EDON VILLAGE COUNCIL September 20th, 2021
The Edon Village Council met in regular session on September 20th, 2021. Those present at the Edon Village council chambers were councilpersons Mike Lirot, Lee Lawrence, Brook Morris-not present, Dave Loughborough, Dan Ankney, and Brandon Thiel. Also present were Mayor – Duane Thiel, Village Administrator Chad Ordway-not present, Fiscal Officer Heidi Bidwell, Chief Symczak, and Village Solicitor Tom Thompson. Residents Statler and Waldorf.
The minutes of the previous meetings of August 16th, and September 8th, were approved. A motion was made by Dan Ankney, seconded by Mike Lirot. Roll Call was taken with Mike Lirot – yes, Lee Lawrence – yes, Brook Morris – not present, Dave Loughborough – yes, Dan Ankney- yes and Brandon Thiel – yes.
The financial statements were approved. A motion was made from Mike Lirot, seconded by Brandon Thiel. Roll Call was taken with Mike Lirot – yes, Lee Lawrence – yes, Brook Morris – not present, Dave Loughborough – yes, Dan Ankney- yes and Brandon Thiel – yes.
The bills approved as paid with a motion from Mike Lirot, seconded by Brandon Thiel. Roll Call was taken with Mike Lirot – yes, Lee Lawrence – yes, Brook Morris – not present, Dave Loughborough – yes, Dan Ankney – yes, and Brandon Thiel – yes.
Communications- October 16th will be the Big Trash Pickup for the Village residents nothing shall be placed by curb until at the most a week before pickup.
Chief Szymczak was present for the police report for the month of August. Nothing further to report.
Safety- The foundations have been poured for the radar signs.
Cemetery – none
Park- A letter has been drawn up to ask the community and businesses for donations for the upgrade of the Walz Park playground equipment. The Williams County DD has been asked for their support to help promote that the park playground equipment will become handicap accessible. The Mayor will be appointing a committee to represent the improvements for the park in looking for donations.
Public Works – none
Finance – Will set end of year meetings in October.
Wage & Compensation – none
Zoning – none
Village Administrator Chad Ordway updated Mayor and Council on issues and projects he is and will be working on through the month. Admin. Ordway stated that we will be accepting sealed bids for the empty storage barn/building located on Woodville Street (previous Manges property).

New Business – Lee Lawrence made the motion to suspend the rules and pass Ord. 08-21 as an emergency. Seconded by Dan Ankney. Roll Call was taken with Mike Lirot – yes, Lee Lawrence – yes, Brook Morris – not present, Dave Loughborough – yes, Dan Ankney- yes and Brandon Thiel – yes. Mike Lirot made the motion to pass Ord. 08-21. The recodification of Edon Village Ordinances. Seconded by Brandon Thiel. Roll Call was taken with Mike Lirot – yes, Lee Lawrence – yes, Brook Morris – not present, Dave Loughborough – yes, Dan Ankney- yes and Brandon Thiel – yes.
Dave Loughborough made the motion to accept the ARS garbage/recycling contract for a 3-year contract. Dan Ankney seconded the motion. Roll Call was taken with Mike Lirot – yes, Lee Lawrence – yes, Brook Morris – not present, Dave Loughborough – yes, Dan Ankney- yes and Brandon Thiel – yes.
Council discussed businesses having a packet made for what is required or needed when starting up in the Village. Perhaps Edon Chamber of Commerce could prepare a booklet and greet new business owners.
Village resident Dee Henry asked if the street at the north end of Community Building could be patched or resurfaced. The meal delivery for Edon Senior Center finds it very rough on vehicle.
The next council meetings will be October 4th, and October 18th, 2021.
